About the Ocean Worlds Lab

The goal of the Ocean Worlds Lab is to advance our scientific understanding of the physics, chemistry, and potential habitability of ocean worlds in our solar system. Broadly, ocean worlds are ice-covered moons, planets, Kuiper Belt Objects, or even asteroids, that harbor subsurface liquid water oceans, and which could host extant life.

Our team pursues this goal through experiments and numerical modelling that simulate the surface and subsurface physical and chemical conditions on ocean worlds. The work of our team also includes field work on, and within, Earth's ocean and cryosphere. We work to create new and innovative robotic systems and instrumentation that push the frontier of ocean exploration, on Earth and beyond.
